Hi everyone!

First, just wanted to say how much I love this place! The best groomer ever and Tipsy really enjoys it!:)

But, the point of this post is just a reminder how important is that your best buddy doesn't get into the trash. I came home from work and Tipsy had gotten in the trash like a bad girl. I went through the trash and didn't find much but later realized that she had eaten some chicken that I had tossed out that morning. She was fine for about 1.5 days then the second day was very sick - she was vomiting and had severe diarrhea. After about a day and half I took her to the vet and she had bacterial colitis from the chicken she had eaten! And, let me just say it was disgusting and I felt so bad for her because she didn't eat a thing for 5 days and her bowels were just blood, but thank goodness she was drinking water!- After 3 veterinarian visits 6 bottles of antibiotics and 5 shots and for the next 6 months prescribed intestinal tract food, she is doing much better.

So, just FYI - please be sure your puppies don't get in the trash!

Thanks!

I had that same problem with Bear way back when...she was a stray so I'm sure going through trash was her only way of getting a meal...but she kept doing it when she had a home!! She stopped doing it, thank goodness, but I did invest in a closed trash can and that seemed to do the trick.

Glad Tipsy is ok now!! Another thing to think about with chicken--not only are the bones so dangerous for their throats, but it can harm them in other ways as you have pointed out.

Thanks for the heads up Brittany!!
